Jawa relaunched in India back in 2018 with the Jawa Classic, which was also affectionately called the “Jawa Jawa”. While Jawa did try something different with this bike, by essentially making a retro bike packed with performance, it failed to make a dent against the market leader. But now Jawa has tried something even more different with their latest offering, the 2024 Jawa 350. It might look like the earlier Jawa Classic, it’s actually a completely new bike underneath. It packs a larger motor with actually makes less power than before, but more torque. By reducing the peak performance, Jawa has made this new 350 a lot calmer than before, and refined too. Plus it’s got a brand new chassis and new suspension too, and although it’s heavier, it’s actually become a lot easier to ride, and to live with. It’s a classic case of taking one step back to take five steps forward, and Jawa has finally made a retro motorcycle that just oozes calmness when you need it to, and still pack a bit of punch when you want it to. Plus it’s priced at Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), puting it right in the ball park of it’s chief rival, the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
