The Vespa Electric scooter is under development for the Indian market. This will be a made-in-India electric scooter, and will likely be built on a tweaked version of the Vespa platform.
The motor and the battery pack will be designed by Piaggio. Expect the upcoming Vespa electric scooter to offer a triple-digit range. It could also share bits like the trailing link fork, single rear shock absorber, retro-styled bodywork with the regular Vespa scooters. It may also feature connectivity, along with a TFT screen as is the norm with most of the premium electric scooters in India.
Even though it will be made in India, the upcoming Vespa Electric scooter is expected to come at a fairly premium price, perhaps at around Rs 1.7 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival other premium electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1 Pro Plus 3rd Gen, and the Ather 450X. Piaggio is likely to unveil this electric scooter by the end of 2025, and could launch in India in early 2026. Do note that this will be completely different from the Vespa Elettrica, a European electric scooter that Vespa showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in India.
