We say goodbye to the impressive Honda City diesel and its uber fuel efficient engine.

Honda City Diesel Long Term Review

The Honda City diesel has been the car to beat in the C-segment winning almost every comparison test we throw at it. Not only is the Honda City a capable car as compared to its competitors, it is also one of the most talked about cars on the ZigWheels weekly Live Chat! Although there are a few places where the Honda City diesel does lag behind as compared to its competitors, it is one of the best packages you can buy.

An area where the Honda City diesel could do with some improvement is certainly under the bonnet. Although 100PS of power might be enough for most, comparing it to the likes of the Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento does leave one slightly disappointed. We would also like to see a slightly quieter engine in the future powering the City. One thing we would not change though is the lovely 6-speed gearbox that takes drivability to the next level, especially at higher speeds on roads like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

As we have always written about, the Honda City diesel has not only been a good performer returning over 18kmpl regularly with regular city and highway driving stints, it has also been an extremely comfortable way of covering great distances. One recent impromptu trip out of city proved the City’s capabilities as a capable family sedan with its good balance of handling and comfort. The Honda City diesel might not be as good a handler like the Ford Fiesta but it isn’t a slouch either.

That said, we never did mange to sort out the Bluetooth sync issues in our infotainment system even after going through every single menu with a fine tooth comb. The Honda City diesel hasn’t been perfect, but it has been damn near close. It is certainly a car we will miss having as a part of the ZigWheels garage.

Efficiency: 19kmpl
