The Bangalore boy is making switchbacks between his fifth standard examination paper at his school in Koramangala and the racing series in Italy. Pretty cool and cute

The future of Indian racers impacting on the global motorsport scene seems ever so bright with new kid Ruhaan Alva winning his debut race in the Mini 60 category of the EasyKart Championship in Castelletto, Italy. The 10-year old Bangalore schoolboy demonstrated his racing mettle among young riders from around the world. I wonder what I did when I was of the same age. Ah! yeah, I struggled to learn poems. Cool, right?

The young talent is backed by Italian Kart manufacturer, Birel Art, and seemed comfortable in his machine as he grabbed pole position in the qualifying round. He then went on to win both the pre-final and final races. Pretty neat, huh?

Interestingly, Ruhaan, also a fifth standard student of a school in Koramangala, only had two days of practice at the track before the racing event kicked off. But his talent certainly triumphed and led him to victory this time.

Umakanth, Ruhaan’s dad and a former rally driver, explained, ”It was a tight squeeze as Ruhaan was also preparing for his annual exams which commenced a day after we returned from Italy. Overall, it was a fine outing for him and we are grateful to Birel ART India's team principal Marco Bartoli who travelled with us to guide Ruhaan through the weekend.”

The next round is slated to take place on April 8, and I just hope that Ruhaan gets more time to practice before it happens, unlike this time. On that note, it’ll be a great gesture from his school to cut some slack on the young racer so that he can practice more and improve on what he’s doing right now. As the sooner his young mind learns the importance of practice the better it'll be for his racing career along with our hopes. And, who knows, perhaps he can be the future Formula 1 racer in the making, and could leave his mark at a global level.
