Red Bull Soapbox Race Returns To India On November 13th

The Red Bull Soapbox race is a global phenomenon for the simple fact that it is a sports event with the most amount of participant involvement and its not just speed that is rewarded here but creativity and imagination that are regarded in equal measure. The format is simple. You built a soapbox – a four-wheeled contraption that is devoid of any mechanical assists like a motor or pedal, one that is assisted by gravity as you race down a hill. There might be a limit to what you can do with your soapbox but as for design, you can let your imagination run wild and actually be rewarded for it. (Take a look at the pictures) Participants will also receive a cart-load of points for enthusiasm and showmanship before the race. The more eye-popping the costume, bizarre the dance moves, eccentric the performances and preposterous the soundtracks, the greater the reward!

It is also an event that is as much fun for the onlookers as much as the participants. Imagine seeing a slice of pizza on wheels zipping down a slope or a cannonball launcher swerving through a course and flying over bumps? This isn’t the first time the action packed event will be held in India. The last time the Red Bull Soapbox race was held was in 2012 in Bandra.

If you missed it last time around, your chance to be a part of the craziest race in town is back this November, as Red Bull Soapbox Race returns, and this time to the slopes of Powai. Well you might have missed you opportunity to race your soapbox as applications have now closed but that should not deter you from heading down to Powai on the 13th of November and being part of the crazy action.
