The look and visual appeal of Mercedes-Benz cars have captured automobile enthusiasts for over a century now, and with almost all their current production models now gleaming with a new sheen for the 21st century, it was their biggest fans, automobile enthusiasts and over 22,000 readers of German auto magazine “auto motor und sport”, who voted a selection of best-selling Mercedes-Benz luxury car models as being the most beautiful ones around.

Now, the C-class family of cars from Mercedes-Benz has mostly certainly churned out fantastic sales volumes for its maker, and continues to be the most popular entry-level luxury sedan on offer not only in Europe, but also in other international markets where it is sold.

Being sold worldwide in their latest avatars, the next generation of C-Class models is already getting some surplus attention, and in a recent “auto motor und sport” magazine survey was chosen as the clear winner in its class of competitive sedans and coupes’. Readers were truly impressed by the dynamic design of the current crop of C-Class models and more than two-thirds of the all readers’ votes went in favour of this medium-size category winner.

In the slightly higher luxury car segment, the Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe was the most convincing, and its captivating new design infused with the highest grade of materials left voters with little doubt when passing their verdict on the best looking of the lot.

Even in the most visually competitive class of cars, the cabriolets, Mercedes-Benz once again gave the competition a fair bit of grief with its SLS AMG Roadster, whose roadster styled driving pleasure coupled with its AMG tuned 6.3 liter strong V8 engine was too pretty for the competition to handle.

But the icing to the cake had to be the reader’s majority votes that weighed in favour of the legendary 300 SL Gullwing of the 1950s earning it the title of "Design icon of recent decades", a truly exceptional recognition for a car in existence for over 60 years.
