Mahindra XYLO Launched in Nepal

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) recently launched the Mahindra XYLO, in Nepal. Following a grand debut in India, the spacious people mover from the Mahindra stable is set to make a mark in the Nepalese market now.

Agni Incorporated Pvt. Ltd., the current distributor of Mahindra vehicles in Nepal, will be the local distributor for the XYLO. For the Nepal market, Mahindra plans on introducing only two XYLO variants, namely the top end E8 7 seater and the 8 seater-E2 model.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pravin Shah, Executive Vice President, International Operations, Automotive Sector, M&M stated, "The XYLO offers an extraordinary level of luxurious comfort and technology at a very cost-effective price. We are delighted to launch it in Nepal where the Mahindra brand is the market leader in the Utility Vehicle and Pick Up segments. Our distributor, Agni Incorporated Pvt. Ltd. has been associated with Mahindra for several years and has made a significant contribution to its success in Nepal. With its wide national network and in-depth knowledge of the local market, Agni will provide us with a strong competitive edge in the Nepalese automobile market."

The automobile industry in Nepal is largely dependant on imports, however the sector is growing at a rapid rate with major Indian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean manufacturers making their presence felt in the market.

Mahindra has invested more than US$ 100 million in the development of the XYLO, which included setting up a new robotic body shop at its Nashik plant in India, as well as an additional trim line at the final assembly shop. Over 200 dies and more than 1,000 new parts were developed for the XYLO.
