The Vespa Elettra concept isn’t your average looking e-scooter

Vespa Elettra

While no one really thought about it, MA-DE, an Italian design studio, has conceptualized the Vespa Elettra. As the name suggests, it’s an electric version of the Vespa but takes inspiration from the 1946 Piaggio Vespa and the internationally sold Vespa Elettrica.

The Vespa Elettra is the brain-child of the founders of MA-DE studio, Andrea Della Vecchia and Woody Chui. The main objective behind this design study is to fulfil transportation needs in congested cities while being easier on the environment. As a concept, MA-DE has equipped the Vespa Elettra with a 7kW electric motor that offers 240Nm of torque and a top speed of 95 kmph. Moreover, it gets a 5.6 kW/h battery with a range of 140km in a single charge. The Vespa Elettra concept gets a digital instrument console that looks more like a smartphone.

The overall design is retro but with modern touches at specific areas. The circular LED headlight, for instance, gets DRLs and the tail light neatly integrated into the rear body panels.

Since the Vespa Elettra is just a concept, there is no certainty of it making it to the production line anytime soon. And if it does, we hope that the final product looks equally beautiful if not more. With that being said, India currently has quite a few EV brands, of which Ather Energy has been setting the benchmark. The 450X not only looks good but also packs a lot of features. Our team has spent some time with the Ather 450X and here’s what it feels like in the real world.
