A New Lamborghini V10 Is Coming To India

Mark your calendars, Lamborghini is all set to bring a new V10 model to India on July 14. The carmaker has also released a teaser image of the upcoming V10 model hidden under the covers. 

 

Looking at the teaser image, the headlights are unmistakably Huracan. But at the rear, there seems to be a protruding rear wing, hinting at the new model being the racetrack-inspired and road-legal Huracan Super Trofeo Omologata (STO).

Unveiled in markets abroad in November 2020, it is based on the race-spec Huracan GT3 EVO and the Huracan Super Trofeo (ST) EVO, Lambo’s Squadra Corse’s one-make race series. Despite it being road-legal, it looks just as racy as the race cars it’s based on, with the bonnet, fender and front bumper, all combined to form a single component. 

It also gets large air ducts on the bonnet, an air scoop on the rear hood, air intakes in the rear fender, and a shark fin on the rear bonnet for aerodynamic gains. The rear wing is a single slot unit that gets double airfoil, which can be positioned at three different angles. Combine this with loads of carbon fibre all over and 20-inch magnesium wheels and the STO weighs 1,339kg, 40kg lighter than the Huracan Performante.

At the heart of the Huracan STO is a Squadra Corse 5.0-litre V10 naturally aspirated engine, a calibrated version of the V10 seen on the Huracan EVO and Super Trofeo. It pushes out 640PS and 565Nm! A 7-speed DCT distributes power to the rear wheels and aids the Huracan STO to the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3 seconds and 0-200kmph in 9 seconds with a top speed of 310kmph.

The STO has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.09kg/hp and an F1-inspired CCM-R braking system that allows it to stop from 100kmph in just 30 meters and from 200kmph in 110 metres. It gets three ANIMA driving modes: a default STO mode for road driving, Pioggia mode to handle slippery conditions, and Trofeo mode to get the most out of your STO on a racetrack. 

On the inside, the Huracan STO gets carbon-fibre sports seats with four-point seatbelts and carbon-fibre accents all over the cabin. There are also new graphics for the touchscreen infotainment system and a UNICA app that keeps records of track performance data and logs. 

Currently, Lamborghini retails the Huracan EVO from Rs 3.21 crore (ex-showroom). If the new V10 model for India is the Huracan STO after all, expect it to be the most expensive Huracan in the range since it is a performance-focused model.
