The company is holding meetings with prospective dealers to find the right partners

Kia Stonic

Kia is preparing for the market launch of two of its made-in-India cars in 2019. The company is looking for potential dealers to bring those cars to the market. It is holding meetings with dealers looking to partner with Kia. Here's the schedule:

- New Delhi: JW Marriott Aerocity, August 8-9

- Mumbai: ITC Maratha, August 16-17

- Bengaluru: Taj West End, August 23-24

- Kolkata: Taj Bengal, September 1

These conferences will allow the dealers to interact with Kia’s top executives. At the same time, Kia's team will get a chance to evaluate the potential dealers they should partner with before entering the cutthroat Indian market. Kia Rio

Kia is setting up a plant in Andhra Pradesh with an annual capacity of three lakh vehicles per year. Exports are also on the agenda, but India will remain the key market for the sales of cars made at the Anantapur plant.

One of the two cars to go on sale in India is going to be a small SUV while the other will be a sedan. The 'compact sedan' is expected to rival the Hyundai Xcent while the SUV could be a Creta competitor. Product overlap with the other South Korean carmaker is inevitable, but it doesn't hurt as long as they're able to keep the customers from going elsewhere.

Kia will have to compete with not only the existing crop of cars on sale in India but also take on the British MG Motor and the French Peugeot as they've also decided to set up shops in India.
