CFMoto has launched the 250SR in Malaysia. The Chinese bikemaker’s first faired entry-level sportsbike is priced at RM 15,800 (around Rs 2.77 lakh). There’s even a special edition variant with a sporty blue and green livery that retails for RM 17,800 (about Rs 3.12 lakh). The bike is built in China and sold in Malaysia via the CKD (completely knocked down) route. CFMoto brings its bikes to India via the CKD route as well. The 250SR is the faired alternative to the CFMoto 250NK naked motorcycle.
The CFMoto 250SR gets a sporty bodywork with a layered fairing and twin headlamps. It gets all-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT digital instrument console that gets a unique analogue-style tachometer instead of a digital bar-type unit.
Power comes from a 249cc liquid-cooled single cylinder motor that delivers 28PS and 22Nm. That’s 1.5PS more than the 250SR’s motor. It gets a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch. Underpinnings include a trellis frame and a cast aluminium swingarm. It gets a 37mm upside down fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. Braking is via a 292mm front disc with radially mounted calipers and a 220mm rear disc, while dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
We will not be getting the CFMoto 250SR in India. Instead, CFMoto will launch the larger engined 300SR in India, similar to how we get the 300NK instead of the 250NK. The CFMoto 300SR is expected to be launched in India by early 2021 and cost between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched here, the CFMoto 300SR will compete against faired 300cc bikes like the KTM RC 390 and TVS Apache RR 310.
