At the upcoming 100th anniversary of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb two made in America Acura NSX supercars will compete in the Time Attack 1 and 2 classes, driven by two brothers- James Robinson and Nick Robinson.
Along with this, Acura will also showcase an NSX-inspired prototype vehicle in the electric modified class which will be powered by an updated fully electric 4-motor setup mated to an all-wheel-drive powertrain.
Commenting on the upcoming event Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of the Acura Division said, "Pikes Peak is like no other race in the world and offers a unique opportunity to showcase the power and performance of our products. We are excited for this year’s ‘Race to the Clouds’ to test the endurance and engineering of the Acura NSX and our advanced powertrain technologies – as well as an expression of our racing spirit.”
The participating Acura NSX cars will be powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine along with a rear direct drive motor and a front twin motor which comes with electrically-powered torque vectoring capability. Taking care of the transmission duties is a 9-speed dual clutch gearbox. The cars will also be equipped with a custom high-flow race exhaust and a lighter chassis. The Acura NSX, MDX SUV and TLX sedan will feature as pace cars in the event as well.
