Cementing Renault’s position among leading automakers in India, the Kwid has leapfrogged various established names among the highest selling cars for the month of March 2016. Placed fifth in the list, the Kwid sold 9,734 units last month; taking the all-time tally of the new hatchback to 41,205 units.
Other positive movement was witnessed by cars from both the top two manufacturers of the country. With a staggering 75 per cent y-o-y growth, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, at the seventh position, sold 8,859 units in the previous month while the Hyundai Grand i10 moved one position north at sixth with 9,544 units.

Maruti dominated the top-four places on the list yet again, with WagonR and Swift interchanging positions from March 2015 at third and fourth respectively. Despite an 11 per cent dip in sales, the Indian carmaker’s Alto occupied the top position on the list with 22,101 units. The DZire, by a fair distance from the chart leader, was placed second on the list with 17,796.

Sold through Maruti’s Nexa channels, the Baleno sold 6,236 units in the March 2016, and was ranked at ninth spot. The total sales of the new car stands at 37,809 units after another successful month.
The Honda City is the second biggest faller in the list with a negative growth of 42 per cent at 5,662 units. Falling from sixth, it completes the list at tenth position.
