The FIA Formula 2 Championship’s final qualifying of the season at the Bahrain International Circuit saw a strong showing for Carlin with Jehan Daruvala qualifying 3rd for the feature race. His teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver Yuki Tsunoda took pole position for the final round of the season.

While F2 returned to the Bahrain International Circuit, it was the shorter outer layout that was in use, which meant multiple timed laps. The two Carlin drivers kicked off the weekend in strong fashion with Daruvala 2nd and Tsunoda leading proceedings. A multitude of early runs saw Daruvala and Tsunoda line up 3rd and 1st with mere tenths separating the field.
Unfortunately, a chaotic second half of the 30 minute qualifying session riddled with red flags saw neither Carlin drivers getting a proper crack into their final qualifying runs. On the flip side the final red flag of the session did seal pole position for Tsunoda and 3rd for Jehan Daruvala in the end.

This sets up both Carlin drivers in a good position to score big in the 48-lap (60 minutes) feature race, with the top eight finishers lining up in reversed order for Sunday’s sprint race. This is also another strong opportunity for Jehan Daruvala to score that potential second podium he had missed out on in the sprint race a week ago.
The feature race commences on Saturday at 5:40pm (IST) and will be streamed live on the official F1 YouTube channel.
