Now, this is something to rejoice for the enthusiasts! Toyota has reintroduced the Fortuner Legender 4X4, this time with a manual stick shifter. The premium Toyota SUV has the same 2.8-litre diesel engine under its hood, which was earlier paired to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox only. Sure, that brought a good convenience to driving, but when it comes to manoeuvring the Legender completely under your control, a manual was always a craving for many. Let’s see what else has changed since this update.
Toyota Fortuner Legender: The New Powertrain Setup
We’ll start with the foremost changes first. There’s not too much rework, though. Under the hood, the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 gets the same 2.8-litre diesel engine. Here’s a summary of its outputs with the two different gearboxes now.

While the automatic also carries an option for the two-wheel drive option, the manual is rendered exclusively upon the four-wheel drivetrain, and it churns out similar power but with slightly reduced torque output which is on par with the regular Fortuner 4X4 and Hilux 4X4 with the manual option.
Toyota Fortuner Legender: Design
There are no changes to the overall design of the car. It looks as bold and big as before with the same body style, featuring LED headlights, LED fog lamps, and DRLs at the front, positioned beside a piano black grille.
In profile, it sports a clean design with body-coloured dual-tone ORVMs, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and traditional door handles with a chrome finish.
At the rear, it comes with wraparound LED taillights and rear fog lamps. A ‘Fortuner’ lettering sits between the lighting elements on the tailgate, positioned right below the logo. The bold rear bumper mirrors the design of the front.
Toyota Fortuner Legender: Interior And Features
The interior also remains unchanged, with the same amount of plushness and luxury as before, featuring leather seats with black and maroon-themed upholstery. The cabin is adorned with plenty of soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels, complemented by metallic accents.

In terms of features, the Toyota Fortuner Legender comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering adjustments with mounted controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, a cooled glovebox, and connected car tech. The new manual Fortuner Legender has been upgraded with an 11-speaker JBL sound system, replacing the previous 6-speaker setup. It also includes all the 4X4-specific off-roading features.
Its safety suite includes features such as 7 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and traction control.
