The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has always been a luxury icon, pushing the boundaries of opulence and pampering its owners. But if you’re someone who wants this luxury behemoth with plenty of performance, then Mercedes-Benz has satisfied your cravings. Behold the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, which has been introduced in India at Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom).
Also, it’s available in a limited ‘Edition 1’ trim packing bespoke design bits and trims as well as blacked out design touches for a stealthy look.

Obviously, apart from the mind-boggling numbers, the S 63 has the show to match the go with the styling tweaks, cabin upgrades, and plenty of tech. So let’s get cracking!
Powertrain And Handling Setup

Obviously, the biggest update here is underneath the hood. You get a massive 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid setup to put out a whopping 802 PS and 1430 Nm. These numbers clearly make it the most powerful S-Class rolling out from the factory! All that power is delivered to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The numbers? Hold your breath! 0 to 100 kmph comes up in just 3.3 seconds (Huracan territory) and top speed is electronically capped at 250 kmph. And mind you, this is a 2.5-tonne luxury barge we are talking about.
The E Performance in its name means it’s a hybrid. And you get a battery pack, allowing you to do 33 km in pure EV power. And of course, the hybrid setup here is tuned for maximum performance instead of fuel economy.
Lastly, tweaks have been made underneath the skin for improved handling prowess. That includes a stiffer air suspension setup, active roll stabilisation, and rear wheel steering.
Looks To Match The Show

This being an AMG, you get a handful of sportier design touches to set it apart from the standard S-Class. You get a giant Panamericana grille with vertical slats that is on your face and beneath it, a sportier bumper. In profile, it rides on a set of AMG-spec wheels and the rear gets a tweaked bumper with quad exhausts. Lastly, splashes of carbon fibre across the car screams that this is a sporty S-Class, and the teeny tiny design changes definitely set the tone.
Interior Changes To Set The Tone

The overall dashboard layout is similar to that of the standard S-Class, but with AMG-specific upgrades. For starters, the all-black dashboard features carbon fibre bits for a sporty ambience. You get to sit on chunky sports seats and the driver grips an AMG-specific steering wheel with dual spokes for the touch controls.

Lastly, the rear seat experience is more or less similar to the standard S-Class, with lounge seats that can beat the best couches in the world when it comes to comfort. Rear seat occupants are also treated with entertainment screens to keep themselves entertained and even get headphones so you don’t disturb other occupants.
S 63 AMG Rivals In India

The S 63 AMG doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country and can be considered as a sporty alternative to the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 L. But its performance puts it as an alternative to the Audi RS7 Sportback, Porsche Panamera, and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance.
