Reise Helden Helmet Test and Real World Impressions

First impressions? Surprisingly premium for the price. It complies with the top safety certifications such as ISI, ECE 22.05 and DOT - so you’re not gambling with your head.

Its shell is built from Advanced Polycarbonate Composite, a fancy term that means it absorbs shock better than your self-esteem during appraisals. How It’s Built

Construction is where safety starts. The Advanced Polycarbonate Composite shell offers a balance between flexibility and impact absorption. The material is lighter than what you’ll find on most old-school helmets, and is designed to distribute energy rather than pass it on to your skull. Even the weight is right. At around 1.5kg it’s not featherlight, but smartly balanced. You don’t feel top-heavy when riding.

Inside, the hypoallergenic padding fits snug and holds firm, with a removable liner that you can toss into the wash after sweaty commutes.

Aerodynamics and Ride Quality

The aerodynamics work better than you expect. No tugging or wobbling at high speed. That spoiler? It’s not just for show as it smoothens airflow and adds stability. 

Vents at the front and rear make sure there’s always a fresh breeze passing through. On long rides, especially in Indian summers, you’ll thank Reise for this. With minimal wind buffeting and low helmet noise, it behaves like a far more expensive lid.

Helmet Test

So the Helden helmet isn’t just for city rides, it’s light and cool enough for touring. Safe enough for highways. Comfortable enough for daily commutes.

But… Is It Actually Safe? So let’s get into the Destruction Test.

Test 1:  We dropped a 10kg kettlebell from 5 feet onto the chin bar. And the bell bounces off leaving the helmet intact. And the watermelon inside (our stand-in for your precious head) survived without a crack.

Test 2:  A 10kg hit on the side of the helmet.
Result? Same story. Impact absorbed, no cracks, the visor still works. Watermelon? Still juicy and unbruised.

That’s a fantastic result, the Helden helmet passed our test! 

We’d also like to add that the Indian Standards test calls for a helmet dropped from around 3ft with an impact velocity of 7.5 meters per second for a helmet with a headform inside weighing approximately 5-6 kg in total. We used a significantly heavier 10kg weight in our test, which when dropped from 5ft will hit the helmet at a substantially higher velocity of 9.9 meters per second. Now that’s a lot more force! 

And the Helden survived it without a scratch.

Final Verdict
