Maruti Gypsy has been discontinued and is no longer available for sale in the market. There is no official update available regarding any re-launch. Stay tuned.
Yes you can buy new Gypsy if it is still in production for civilians. I guess it's in production for defense only. Rest you better check with the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealership.

The question is too technical for me to answer. Please ask Team BHP. Those people have better knowledge of alteration. But as per discussion with my mechanic it needs too much of alteration and originality of vehicle is spoiled.
May be madam but you can surely modified your steering to power steering but I can't say that it will Mahindra Thar. I have seen modified power steering in Gypsy but can't get exact name of that assembly.sorry
It all depends on one's liking. Like a royal Enfield man is always with Royal Enfield though there are better bikes then Royal Enfield. IIIly gypsy is powerful all terrain vehicle with no comforts you have to be an old car man to like one. It gives bumpy rides, slow acceleration lesser top speed and unstable at higher speeds in terms of negotiating a curve. One cannot have sharp turns at high speeds in gypsy. You really have to feel the coarse Ness and should have affinity to harsher side of life to enjoy driving a gypsy. I will summrise by saying that a difference between a all terrain vehicle and s luxury car is like a difference between a royal and a country woman. One is all so delicate and another is weather beaten and ready to take harsh roads.
The two vehicles cannot be compared as one has a petrol engine and other has diesel engine. The specifications and kerb weights of both vehicles are different. It is up to one's liking what kind of 4*4 vehicle you enjoy riding/driving.
