Jeep has stoked the interest time to time by introducing limited editions such as the Bedrock and the Black Pack. The American manufacturer also introduced a new top-spec ‘Limited Plus’ variant recently, and is planning on introducing an off-road oriented ‘TrailHawk’ variant soon.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Compass 2017-2021

Q. If I am looking for an SUV with trouble-free performance, should I buy a petrol version or a diesel version? I do not need to drive very fast. (Speed is not a major concern). Should I opt for Hyundai Creta, Hyundai i20 or some other make?
  • Selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and the average running of the car. If you drive less than 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially than the diesel car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it a feasible purchase. Diesel cars are more fuel-efficient and provide more torque, therefore, are preferred for a person who drives more than 50km. Whereas, petrol engine has a low service cost, more life span, generally have a well-controlled NVH level and are cheaper in cost than the diesel engines. You may opt for Hyundai Creta as Creta is clearly an impressive compact SUV. With a more sophisticated ride, comfort, and features list, the Creta sure makes a strong case for itself. Moreover, The Creta has a more sophisticated feeling to it now and the ride is more comfortable and polished than before. In the city, over speed breakers and bigger bumps, the suspension soaks up the impacts in a quiet and unflustered fashion. Overall, with this new spacious, quiet, and comfortable cabin, you get a feeling that the Creta has grown up quite a lot. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details. Furthermore, there are other ample SUV options available i.e. Mahindra Thar, Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, MG Hector, etc. Choosing one will depend on several factors such as budget, fuel type, brand preference, seating capacity, specific feature requirements, etc. Click on the given link and apply filters in order to check out [new cars@https://www.zigwheels.com/new_car_search.php?bybodytype=suv
Q. How is Jeep Compass 1.4 Sport Plus MT model? Does it have a clutch issue? Is it worth buying?
  • The Compass comes with a 163PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. If you drive with a light foot; you shouldn't have any complaints. But this turbo petrol isn't as punchy as the diesel in the way it drives. In terms of refinement, it isn't as smooth or quiet as other turbo petrols we've driven; it's a bit clattery and noisy. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
Q. Is 2020.21 jeep compass automatic diesel is better to drive in highways?
  • The diesel engine in Jeep Compass offers good performance and continues to perform excellently under the 3,000rpm mark. You never really feel the need to rev it past that as it offers good bottom end and mid-range grunt. And if you do, it revs all the way to the 4600rpm red line without a fuss. It however does make a racket when you do so. The 9-speed auto gearbox in our test car also continued to perform just like before. Overall though, this powertrain combo works quite well in the city and out on the highway as well.

  • Both belong to different segments.compass is outdated, sells less, high cost of maintenance, less Resale value. I would recommend you to Go for kia,as it's the best seller, low cost of maintenance, Nation wide service.Take a test drive,
  • Compass is a best choice in 21 lakh rather than kia. kia is not so good performer on highway not in comfort not in mileage even not in safety. money will worth with Jeep. trust me I am also a Jeep user. and I am loving this vehicle. sari gadi ki test drive lo end me Jeep and go for off roading. than youvrelise what you gonna buy

Q. Why Jeep Compass petrol has such a low average of just 5/6 km per litre?
  • Harrier is a good product. no doubt. on the average part I'm totally with you, jeep is a gas guzzler. but dude what are you comparing. mg and kia with a jeep. tell me if a mg or kia is safe as a jeep. the metal that jp provides is very strong. take mg and Kia offroading, it won't be near to a jeep. comparing a harrier and a jeep, I can agree. but a mg and kia with jeep. lol
  • I have found that if I drive very short distances (2-3 ķm), my Compass petrol automatic delivers only about 5 kmpl. However if the distance is more than 10 km, the value climbs to 8 kmpl if there traffic is not too heavy with too many stop starts. Being an SUV, fuel efficiency is quite sensitive to variable speeds.
  • This tell how good products hector and harrier are with the same engine they give 14-15 in city and 20-22 on highways and compass is now at the end of its life , just a suggestion compass will get 14-16 lacs on the used car market , sell it and go for either hector or harrier or even seltos !

I purchased Jeep Compass Limited Plus on 1st of July 2019, and within 15 days (vehicle not even driven 500km out of which 300km on first day) lot of annoying sounds audible from sunroof, dashboard, doors (maybe from C-pillar) and now from suspension. I am in continuous contact with Mr. Mike Manley, Mr. Kevin Flynn, Mr. Mangesh Kodalkar, Mr. Lokendra and their team through email. After approximately one month their team came to record video and they accepted the faulty things and they took my vehicle to dealership/ workshop for 7 days and even after that problems not resolved dashboard problems enhanced. I requested them to replace the faulty vehicle they refused. I said the reason behind the request is that the faulty components was installed from company end and not from customer end. Now their team worsen the things and I am forced to go legal

I am extremely happy with the Jeep Compass 1.4 MAIR DDCT I bought in Feb 2019. I have taken in on long drives to Chennai and Hyderabad. The handling is unparalleled with confidence inspiring manners and stability. The build quality is excellent with built to last feel. I have got 14 kmpl in highway section and 8 kmpl in city. The mileage drops to 6 kmpl in extremely short runs. I sorely miss the Cruise Control feature which, in my opinion, is a significant shortcoming. If FCA can offer retrofitting this feature for a price, I will be first in the queue!

Diesel 2.0 litre Bs4 engine with manual transmission offers a great performance with strong midrange. There is some turbo lag in low rev. Steering is precise and quick, chassis is stiff, so overall very sporty and enjoyable on highways. For city is also good but slightly heavy clutch. Main thing is tighter cabin space just enough for 4 pax and just enough boot space. Build quality is solid and no squeaks after 20000 km in 1.5 years. Maintenance is every 15000 km and first one costed less than 10K. Overall satisfied

Very good build quality and plush interiors. Many features not given in the top model for India which is sad. It's pretty zippy when pushed hard. The DCT is sluggish during sudden deceleration and one can hear the shift mechanism hunting noisily. Monocoque chassis makes it's stiff for off road use while keeping the in cabin nosies to a minimum. Remote start and AC, crusty control, electric boot opening, open door warning lights and passenger seat electric adjust are features that have been missed out 😒

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is finally here with a 9-speed automatic and new off-road cred. But is it the comfortable automatic diesel option that most of you were looking for?

Can the new Limited Plus variant of the Jeep Compass make it the complete SUV that we envisioned ever since it was launched in 2017?

October 31, 2018  By Team ZigWheels

The big Compass has a small 1.4-litre engine under the hood. Is that enough? Is the automatic gearbox any good? And what's it like to drive?
