In the Drum brake, a small hollow drum which has a set of shoes inside rotate alongside the wheel and when the brake pedal is applied. The Shoes hit the drum surface and do to the friction between the shoes and the drum the vehicle stops. In the disc brake a disc-shaped metal rotor spin within the wheel. When the pressure is applied on the brake pedal, simultaneously the brake callipers are pressed to the rotating disc. This will slow the wheel down as more pressure is applied to the brake pedal, bringing the car to a halt.
