In order to get best fuel efficiency returns, you may keep certain things in mind such as avoiding rapid acceleration, frequent gear changes, keep a check on tire pressure, ride at economical speeds, shift gears at recommended RPM band and timely service of the bike.

I change gears too often in city and overtake everything that comes in my way. Thanks for your advices, I'll try to follow them to get better mileage.

You need to improve your bike driving style and don't use clutch unnecessary in traffic and signal when you stop on signal or traffic.
