Q. I currently have a Suzuki DR 650 and I am looking at trading up to a Triumph Tiger 800. I am 189cm tall and a few tigers that I have looked at too low. What model should I be looking for?
  • Triumph has launched the Tiger 900 at a premium of Rs 30,700 over its predecessor - the 800. Triumph has upped the displacement on its middleweight Tiger with the inline three-cylinder engine now displacing 888cc. Max power remains the same at 95PS like the old motor but torque has seen a sizeable bump up to 87Nm, which is 8Nm more. The bike now offers better low- and mid-range response, top-spec adjustable suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers and engine’s new punchy characteristics. Moreover, the 870mm seat height may look a bit daunting on spec sheet but the bike is fairly manageable. For a better understanding of compatibility and riding comfort, we would suggest you to take a test ride. • Do you still own the DR650. How did you buy it in India? I am keen on owning one
  • You can drive the tiger easily
Q. My height is 5 feet. Can I drive Triumph Tiger 800 xrx low?
Q. I 5’6”, can I get a comfortable seating height on Tiger 800? And please tell me XCx or XCa has a low seat?
  • I have the Low seat on the 2014 800xc and it fits me fine at 5'9' I am on my toes though. The 800xr is lower and unless you are going to do more aggressive offroad riding then dirt roads and dirt trails I bet you would be fine on the XR with the appropriate tires. I have used the Shinko 705s on my Kawasaki Versys as did my son and we road some rather rocky technical terrain with that setup. The 800XR is a more capable bike then the Versys in my opinion. I also have the BMW G650GS and that has a very low seat height that my wife at 5'6' is flatfooted on.
  • Yes you can get a comfortable seating height, XCX has a low seat/

Q. Which is the best adventure tourer with low seat height around 800 mm?
  • Do take a test ride for before buying. If you only focus on touring then go for Dominor 400. However, if you are looking for both city & highway riding, then this is the best bike according to me. It is absolutely stress-free both in city & highway even if you carry pillion rider. You can easily cruise in 110-120 kmph.
  • You can go for Benelli 502 not the X which is taller. I'm owning one for 3 years now and clocked 8k in mileage. Real value for money tourer. Cant be your daily commute though. 800mm seat height, anyone 5ft 5inch can be comfortable.
  • Thanks 😊
Q. What will be the service cost of Tiger 800 XR if i need to change the brake pad(Front & Rear) & chain spoket?
  • Regular servicing is around the Rs. 7000–8000/- mark, but the service at 20,000 kms requires the engine head to be opened and the valve clearances to be adjusted. It requires adjustment of 12 valve shims (4 valves per cylinder x 3 cylinders) and costs a whopping Rs. 25,000/- for that service.

    Xc variants

Own the XCx variant. Only downsides are the kerb weight, size and heat that is generated by the amazing triple engine. Love the acceleration in spite of its adv motorcycle tag. Rider and pillion comfort are amazing. The WP suspension was made for India. The XC variants are the more off road oriented Tigers which for me means Indian road conditions in general 😂. Great for monsoon conditions. Has a lot of different things - traction control, abs, suspension settings, preload, damping and rebound etc. Different rider modes. I don"t know anything about them. Ride it just the way it was delivered to me. 🙄. All in all a wonderful touring machine.
