Honda CBR650R (2021-2024) FAQs
CBR650R (2021-2024) Key Highlights
Price: The Honda CBR650R will now be available at Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom Gurugram), which is Rs 47,000 more than the 2021 model.
Design: The CBR650R had undergone a massive design revision a couple of years ago when it dropped the ‘F’ suffix in its name for the ‘R’. Its design is heavily inspired by the previous- generation CBR1000RR, evident from the sharp and aggressive lines on the motorcycle. A short tail section adds to the compact proportions of the bike.
Features: Honda has been championing the use of LEDs for its lighting systems. It is evident, considering those can be found all across the CBR650R. The split-headlight setup now gets revised headlight reflectors that lend the bike a striking appearance. The LCD dash layout has been tweaked slightly for improved reading on the fly. You also get a USB Type-C charger beneath the seat.
Engine: The 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine has been updated for a stronger mid-range. In its BS6 guise, it now puts out 87PS at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm at 8500rpm. That’s a significant downgrade from the European-spec model and even slightly lesser than the old BS4 model. No changes to the six-speed gearbox or the slip-and-assist clutch. The tubular steel diamond frame is sprung by a new 41mm Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston unit at the front. The rear 10-step preload-adjustable monoshock remains the same. The new fork is said to lend it a better cornering feel and stability. It gets a pair of Nissin radial calipers up front and a single-piston Nissin floating caliper on the rear wheel. Dual-channel ABS is standard.
Rivals: The Honda CBR650R is the most affordable inline-four fully-faired motorcycle that you can buy in the country right now. It is pretty pricey for the 650cc segment; the parallel-twin Ninja 650 undercuts the CBR by over Rs 2 lakh. The Triumph Trident 660 will be significantly cheaper too. Also, for the asking price of the CBR650R, you can get sportier and more feature-packed nakeds like the Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple R.
