Honda CB500X FAQs
CB500X Key Highlights
Design: This Honda ADV takes its design cues from the Africa Twin and features long-travel suspension. It isn’t a full-blown adventurer though, kind of like a sportbike on stilts. The CB500X has an ADV-like top-heavy design with a sleek face and decently large fairing. Honda will be bringing the CB500X to India in just two colours: Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.
Features: Honda has been the purveyor of LED lighting with the modern illumination tech featuring prominently on the bike. The console is a negative LCD digital unit with adequate ride-related data displayed. While there is no USB charging or Bluetooth connectivity here, the CB500X has this unique feature called Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) that flashes the hazard lights during panic braking situations.
Engine: The Honda CB500X is powered by the same 471cc parallel-twin engine seen on the CBR500R and CB500F. The motor has been tuned to produce 47.5PS at 8600rpm and 43Nm at 6500rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission with an assist-and-slipper clutch. Honda says you could expect an average of 28.6kmpl via its 17.5-litre fuel tank. The bike employs a 41mm telescopic fork and a monoshock with preload adjustability at both ends. Braking duties are handled by a 310mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The seat height of 830mm is on the taller side, which could be problematic for shorter riders. The bike’s 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres come wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.
Rivals: This compact Honda ADV takes on the likes of the Benelli TRK 502 and the Kawasaki Versys 650.
