Q. Which car is best to buy for offroading - Force Gurkha vs Mahindra Thar?
  • Yes driving sonet diesel IMT since one year. Driven 26k so far without any problems.
  • For me, always Gurkha
  • Both the cars are good in their forte. The new Gurkha comes with the older 2.6-litre turbo-diesel motor and not the newer 2.2-litre diesel which the old car got in its last stages. However, the 2.6-litre motor has been upgraded to meet BS6 norms. Force also claims to have heavily reworked the motor to improve refinement and power. Although they have managed to bump up the power on this engine, it still makes a not-so-thrilling 91PS and 250Nm. This lack of versatility is evident in the way the new Gurkha tackles our roads too. At low speeds, the ride quality will surprise you with its plushness. The soft suspension has the ability to gulp the worst road imaginable and while doing so the suspension remains silent. Even for such a tall and heavy vehicle, side to side motion is well controlled. But tackle not so perfect roads at speeds above 50kmph and the Gurkha’s dynamic envelope falls apart. On the other hand, This mStallion petrol paired with the 6-speed auto box was the pick of the engine combinations we’ve experienced in the Thar. It’s smooth and refined in the city and packs a heck of a punch when you push the go pedal. There’s plenty of torque from the petrol motor too so though we didn't test it, it’s sure to perform just as amicably in the off-road environment as well. The Thar's appeal and promise to take you on great adventures is a big draw but living with it everyday will still ask you to make many compromises. As a second car or for those who just need the utility of the 4x4 the Thar’s appeal is undeniable. For a better understanding of compatibility and driving comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Q. Is it better than the new Bolero Neo?
  • Definitely
  • Selecting the right car would depend on several factors such as your budget preference on the segment, features required, cabin space, engine options, brand preference, etc. If you are looking for an SUV with extreme off-roading capabilities then Force Motors Gurkha would be a great pick. Force Motors Gurkha is currently available in a Diesel engine. The 2596 cc Diesel engine generates a power of 89.84bhp@3200rpm and torque of 250Nm@1400-2400rpm. On the other hand, Neo's promise is simple on purpose, offering go-anywhere ruggedness, with a compact sub-4m footprint that promises to be economical to own and maintain. Mahindra Bolero Neo is currently available in a Diesel engine. The 1493 cc Diesel engine generates a power of 100bhp@3750rpm and torque of 260nm@1750-2250rpm.
