Expert's Opinion on One Gen 1.5
Overview

One of India’s most expensive electric scooters!
- The Simple One is an electric scooter that tries to strike a balance between performance & practicality
- The Dot One is priced at Rs 1,46,129, while the One costs Rs 1,66,694 (both ex-showroom Bengaluru)
- Certified range in the Simple One stands at a massive 248km
Design

Looks familiar!
- The Ather-like feeling is similar even when you sit on it, for even the Simple feels like a very compact scooter
- So on the whole, the Simple One has that angular and sharp design as well
- The Simple One looks similar to the Ather 450X
- Its extensions at the front, side panels and even the footpegs, they’re all almost exactly like the Ather
Performance & Range

Exciting and practical
- Both the Simple One and Dot One get an 8.5kW motor. There’s a 3.7kWh fixed batter in the Dot One, while the Simple One also has a 1.3kWh removable battery, taking the total capacity to 5kWh
- With such relatively large batteries, the Dot One’s certified range stands at 181km, while the same for the standard One is 248km
- Along with these big range figures, there’s ample performance too. Both scooters do 0-40kmph in less than 3 seconds and have a top speed of 105kmph. They also have four riding modes - Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic
- To sum the performance up, it’s definitely exciting. Slot the scooter in Sonic mode and you can maintain a 90-100kmph cruising speed comfortably
Handling

Feels light and very agile!
- The Simple One feels light and agile
- You can put it in small gaps and filter through the traffic very easily. It will be fun for younger enthusiasts while being easy to ride for the older people in the house
- The TVS Eurogrip tyres are quite grippy too and they inspire a lot of confidence
- The brakes though, should’ve had more initial bite and feel a bit weak in comparison to the scooter’s overall performance
Comfort & Storage

Performance-oriented yet comfortable
- Simple has tuned the scooter’s suspension to be reasonably comfortable as well. While it might not feel as plush as the TVS iQube, it’s definitely much better than the Ather 450X
- While the pillion seat is reasonably spacious, the Ather-like pillion footpegs make the seating posture for the pillion very comfortable, even for taller riders
- The 30-litre boot is quite deep so fitting most helmets won't be an issue as well
Features

Feature-loaded but console could’ve been better
- The Simple One is loaded with features. Its 7-inch touchscreen TFT has riding modes, full-fledged navigation, documents storage facility, and a lot more
- But the console’s font is too small. Reading it on the go is a pain, especially when using the maps, which are laggy too. Even if you take a wrong turn, it takes a while for the maps to communicate that
Verdict

Should you buy the Simple One?
- The Simple One promises to strike a beautiful balance between performance and practicality and the scooter seems to have a strong foundation already. And while it is a bit expensive, almost everything it offers is among the best-in-class. So it makes for pretty decent value for your money as well
- But once Simple manages to expand its network, the One should make for an excellent choice. It’ll be a scooter that will appeal not only to the young enthusiasts but also to the older people in the family
- But Simple hasn’t sold a lot of these and it still has a very limited dealership & service centre network. So we’d advise you to just wait a bit till SImple manages to expand its network and sell more units, for us to see if any major reliability issues pop up in the scooter
