Expert's Opinion on T 30

Overview
An Electrifying Commuter
An Electrifying Commuter
  • The RapteeHV T30 made quite a buzz when it was first unveiled a year ago, promising plenty of performance and futuristic tech on paper. Now that we’ve finally spent some time with it, it’s clear this isn’t just another run-of-the-mill electric motorcycle. With some smart touches and a unique flavour, is it something you should really look forward to, or is it one to skip? Let’s find out.
Design
Definitely A Head-turner
Definitely A Head-turner
  • The T30 certainly looks the part. It has the silhouette of a proper sports tourer; think Bajaj Dominar 400, while the LED headlamp does remind you of the Ultraviolette F77. But put those two ideas together, and the Raptee manages to carve out an identity of its own. The broad body panels lend it a bold and clean aesthetic that turns heads easily. That said, the bikes we rode were pre-production units, and the large plastic panels didn’t quite deliver the premium finish you’d expect. Raptee assures that the final production models will have better quality panels, and if that happens, it’ll elevate the visual appeal further. Otherwise, the overall fit and finish already seem promising, the switches feel tactile, panels are well-aligned, and there’s no noticeable rattling. Even the wiring is neatly tucked away, adding to that sense of attention to detail.
Performance & Range
Surprisingly Quick
Surprisingly Quick
  • What really catches you off guard is how well the T30 performs. The Raptee churns out 22kW of peak power and a massive 70Nm. The throttle response feels smooth and direct, with no lag. Twist the wrist, and the bike reacts instantly. There are three ride modes: Comfort, Power, and Sprint, which completely change how the T30 behaves. In Comfort mode, it’s a calm commuter limited to 65kmph. Switch to Power mode, and you can stretch to 100kmph while still keeping things efficient. Sprint mode is where the bike is properly fun, unlocking a top speed of 135kmph and genuinely strong acceleration.
  • As for range, with the 5.4kWh battery pack, the company claims 200km IDC, though in real-world use, it’s closer to 150km in Comfort, 100km in Power, and about 75km in Sprint. The middle Power mode feels like the sweet spot, brisk enough for highway use and still practical for city runs. There are also three levels of regen braking, with Level 2 offering the most balanced feel. Level 3 slows you down sharply when you roll off, while Level 1 feels almost like coasting. And when the battery drops below 25%, the bike automatically switches to a limp mode, locking it in Comfort to preserve charge.
  • If there’s one area for improvement, it’s the range in the more spirited modes; the Sprint mode, especially, feels a bit limiting for longer weekend rides.
Battery & Charging
Just A Coffee Break Away
Just A Coffee Break Away
  • The 5.4kWh battery might not sound massive, but Raptee’s trick lies in how fast it recharges. Thanks to CCS2 compatibility, the T30 can charge not just at two-wheeler chargers but even at car charging stations. It supports both AC and DC fast charging, which makes it one of the most flexible two-wheeler EVs around. It also comes with an onboard charging cable, lightweight and compact enough to carry in a backpack, which is included in the bike’s price, unlike how Ultraviolette offers it on the X47. Using a standard home charger, it juices up from 20-80% in about an hour, while a DC fast charger cuts that down to just 36 minutes. That’s enough time for a coffee break, making it easy to live with despite the moderate range.
Handling
Good Enough
Good Enough
  • Our test ride took place on mostly straight highway roads on the outskirts of Chennai, so there wasn’t much opportunity to fully understand its handling potential. That said, the few long sweepers we did encounter revealed a stable, planted feel. Braking performance, meanwhile, could use some work. The lever feedback isn’t as sharp or confidence-inspiring as you’d expect from a bike of this capability. Progression is smooth and the dual-channel ABS is tuned well, stepping in only when absolutely needed. Traction control would’ve rounded off the safety package nicely, something which is a miss currently, considering the price tag it commands.
Ride Quality
Comfortably Numb
Comfortably Numb
  • The T30’s suspension setup is definitely on the firmer side. While the front end manages small bumps reasonably well, it’s the rear that feels particularly stiff, especially over broken roads or sharp speed breakers. With a pillion, the setup settles a bit, but solo riders will likely need to take short breaks during longer stints. Thankfully, the monoshock is preload-adjustable, which should give you room to fine-tune the setup.
Comfort & Storage
A Proper Sports Tourer
A Proper Sports Tourer
  • The riding triangle feels natural, slightly leaned forward but still comfortable enough for long rides. The footpegs are not too rearset which further adds to the overall comfort. The 790mm seat height makes it accessible for riders above 5’4”, while taller riders will appreciate the roomy seat and easy reach to the bars. The seat cushioning is adequate for extended rides, offering good support.
  • Pillion comfort, however, takes a back seat (pun intended). The seat is narrow and compact, best suited for short hops around the city. Anything beyond that will likely get uncomfortable for the passenger.
Features
Have Some And More
Have Some And More
  • The T30 gets a massive 7-inch touch-compatible TFT console with crisp graphics and excellent visibility in sunlight . Navigation through menus is intuitive, and switching between ride modes or regen levels can be done on the go with dedicated buttons. Our pre-production unit had cruise control hardware, but the feature itself was disabled. Raptee says it will be standard on production bikes. The T30 also gets map-based navigation, TPMS, hill-hold assist, and even a reverse mode.
  • The only gripe? The in-house navigation interface feels a bit zoomed out, making it harder to interpret at a quick glance.
Verdict
A Bright Future
A Bright Future
  • The RapteeHV T30 might be a bit late to bring out its first offering, but it has arrived with a confident step. It combines sharp design, solid performance, fast charging, and a well-rounded feature set, all for a price of Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). I would have liked the range to be better in the go-fast modes and for the bike to be a bit more comfortable for daily usage. But overall, the T30 feels like a thoughtfully engineered motorcycle that’s genuinely enjoyable to ride. It’s currently available only in Chennai, with Bengaluru next in line, and more cities to follow soon. For those looking to make the electric switch without compromising on excitement, the RapteeHV T30 should be something you should definitely have a look at.
