UM Motorcycles is the youngest bikemaker in the Indian market, having debuted in 2016 during the Auto Expo with the Renegade Sports S and Renegade Commando. It expanded its portfolio last September by riding in the Commando Classic and the Renegade Commando Mojave. We know that the company has created some hype for itself with its designs, but we don't know how the company is doing in terms of sales as its figures aren’t released to the public.
Now, we have learned from reports that UM has reduced the price of its most affordable offering, the Renegade Sports S, by Rs 10,000. As per the Delhi showroom we spoke to, the Sports S (EFI) that retailed for an ex-showroom price of approximately Rs 1,82,000 is now priced at Rs 1,71,654 with the discount. The discount is applicable on a limited stock so if you're planning to get one, now would be the time.

The Sports S is powered by a 279.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that churns out 25.15PS of peak power and 23Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox, and the bike employs a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The chassis is suspended on hydraulic telescopic forks of 41mm dia at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
The bike is currently available in three colours: Young Red, Young Orange and Black Silver.

From what the news has to say, it looks like UM is trying hard to shore up its sales figures. Compared to its competitors like the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and 500 that are sold for an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,45,875 and Rs 1,87,967 respectively, the bike does not stand as the definition of an affordable cruiser.
No changes or features have been made to offer the discount as per the showrooms. Rather, this is just a discount offered before new stock comes in by the end of the year. It remains to be seen if the discount imparts a significant boost to sales but we won’t know better until UM releases its sales figures.
