Tata Motors is all set to unveil a new version of the Tata Sumo Grande called the Movus at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. This new version will be mainly for the commercial sector and will be positioned against the likes of the Mahindra Xylo D2 and the Ashok Leyland Stile. The Movus is also slated to be priced cheaper than the cheapest Sumo Grande variant available currently.
The Tata Sumo Grande Movus will in most probability be available with a stripped down package. This package will include black bumpers instead of the body colored bumpers available on the higher versions, a very basic interior trim level with no entertainment system amongst other deductions.
The Tata Sumo Grande Movus will also get some mechanical upgrades that will filter down to the entire range. The biggest upgrades mechanically are said to be a new turbocharger and a new fuel delivery system that is said to boost both fuel economy and performance. These upgrades will first be available on the Tata Sumo Grande Movus and will later be adapted to the Tata Sumo Grande range and also on other vehicles that share mechanical components.
The Tata Sumo Grande Movus will be powered by the 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel DICOR engine family that currently does duty in the Tata Sumo Grande, the Tata Safari Storme and the Tata Aria. Expect the Tata Sumo Grande Movus to be priced at about Rs 7.2 lakh placing it just above the top of the line Tata Sumo Gold GX but much cheaper than the currently available Tata Sumo Grande LX.
