Russian firm Livemap has been granted the equivalent of Rs 1.8 crore by the Russian Ministry of Science to fund its new head-up display helmet.
The Livemap team is working on creating the latest head-up display motorcycle helmet with voice control and GPS navigation directly in your field of vision. So, while you’re riding, you can see directions in your helmet display without having to look away from the road.
What Livemap offers, is a full-colour, translucent picture that is projected right on the visor like in a F-35 fighter helmet. The helmet is expected to be a little bigger than the usual size helmets, considering it also houses a microphone for voice control, two earphones, two 3000 mAh batteries for long operating time and even a light sensor for adjusting the image brightness according to external light conditions.
A working prototype is likely to be released by March or April 2015, followed by a production version going on sale in the US in mid-2015. The price tag – a cool $2000, about Rs 1.25 lakh! Livemap is offering a $500 discount (about Rs 30,000) to customers who pre-order now.
