Nissan has launched a special edition variant of the Evalia, unimaginatively called the Special Variant, at Rs 11.62 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. What it does do is give the Evalia that desirability factor that eludes the rather boxy MPV.
The Evalia Special Variant gets sportier styling upfront, which includes a glitzy all-chrome grille and a more aggressive bumper. The bumper sports a larger air-dam and a redesigned fog lamp cluster with neat diamond shaped housings. 10-spoke alloy wheels on the top end variant also make it to this Special Variant Evalia. A rear spoiler rounds off the spruce up.
Nissan plans to take on the Mobilio RS with this special variant and that means kitting the variant with all the bells and whistles of its top spec variant, the XV with option pack. So you get a rear wiper, defogger, rear parking camera and 15 inch alloy wheels. Captain seats for the second row, AC vents for rear passengers and wood finish centre console are other features the Evalia Special Variant can boast of.
The Evalia is powered by Nissan’s 1.5-litre K9K unit pumping out 86PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Evalia is one of the larger MPVs on sale in India with good enough space to seat six in comfort. It doesn’t have a premium image due to its styling, but over time, Nissan has improved its features and with this Special Variant, made it a bit more attractive to the individual car buyer.
