Mitsubishi has divulged its plans of introducing eight new models after 2022, including all-new offerings and a few generation updates on existing vehicles.
The Triton pickup truck, Xpander MPV (the Ertiga equivalent), and the Pajero Sport will get their generation upgrades. The company also said that the next-gen Xpander will get an electric powertrain, which will be sold alongside the standard petrol MPV.
It appears Mitsubishi will launch two all-new models along with their performance-focused versions, which will likely be based on the soon-to-be-revived Ralliart brand.
That said, Mitsubishi’s future here in India is undecided as of now, considering the Pajero Sport and Outlander have been discontinued due to the stringent BS6 emission standards. In fact, the carmaker wanted to bring in the Xpander MPV and Eclipse Cross SUV by 2020, but that did not come to fruition.
The Lancer, Cedia, and Pajero Sport were a few cult Mitsubishis on sale in the country previously. We hope the company considers reviving its India operations. Surprisingly, select Mitsubishi dealers are still operational, and they suggested that the carmaker could soon introduce imported models like the new Pajero Sport.
