The Stinger nameplate returns and HOW!

Mahindra Stinger

Mahindra is cooking up a surprise for the Auto Expo 2018. Apart from its electric cars there is also going to be an SUV concept called the Stinger at the Indian carmaker’s stall. If that name reminds you of something, let me help paint a better picture. The name was earlier associated with a modified Bolero. But this time, it will be a compact convertible SUV. Going from the picture Mahindra teased, the SUV is going to have quite a flamboyant design. Flared wheel arches, big wheels, bold grille, LED headlamps, and of course, no roof. And it will seat four.

Mahindra Stinger

Like the Aero concept from 2016 the Stinger too will just be a showcase, with no immediate intention to become a production car. The rear of the SUV looks inspired by a sports car. It has a lot of sharp edges with sleek lights which give it a sporty look. The Stinger will be Mahindra's show stopper at the Auto Expo 2018. In terms of size it will be as big as the TUV300, which might be the SUV the Stinger is based on. Powering the SUV on the show floor could be the TUV300’s 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk100 diesel engine which puts out about 100PS of power.

SsangYong Rexton

Apart from the Stinger, Mahindra will also have a full-size premium SUV at the expo. Most likely the all-new Rexton rebranded as a Mahindra, the SUV will be in production form, to be launched this year in the country. Other than that, Mahindra will also have not less than six all-new electric vehicles. Among them, two will be all-new concepts while the others will be electrified production cars like the KUV100. These electric will be under the the theme ‘Future of Mobility’ from Mahindra. Catch all the action from 9th Feb onwards at the Auto Expo 2018.
