It’s an understatement to say the Kia Seltos is off to a good start. The mid-size SUV has hit the charts, making it the best selling SUV in India since the last two months. Kia sold over 14,000 units of Seltos in November, a 9 per cent increase over 12,854 units during October. With just a sole product in its lineup, Kia Motors is currently the fourth largest carmaker in India with respect to volumes. And to keep its momentum, Kia plans to launch the Carnival MPV as well as the QYI compact SUV in the coming year.
Since its entry in India, Kia has sold over 40,000 units of the Seltos and garnered over 80,000 bookings. Due to the strong demand, Kia will also be ramping up production of the DCT and diesel-automatic variants.
The Seltos was launched in India on August 22 with a price tag starting from Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The three BS6-compliant engines on offer are a 1.4-litre T-GDI, 1.5-litre Petrol and 1.5-litre CRDI, mated to four gearbox options: 6MT, 7-DCT, 6AT and CVT. Kia is offering the Seltos in two main trim options: GT Line and Tech Line, which are further split into 8 variants.
Kia has equipped the Seltos with some impressive features like ventilated seats, wireless charging, heads-up display, Bose sound system, sunroof, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO Connect, smart air purifier, and drive modes.
The Seltos is currently priced from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). But this pricing is expected to change next month as the Seltos could get a price hike of upto Rs 50,000. Key rivals for the Seltos are the MG Hector, Hyundai Creta and the Tata Harrier.
