Come 2017, Motoroyale, a joint initiative of Italian bike maker MV Agusta and Kinetic Group will be launching the new Brutale 800 in the first quarter of the new year. We say that because through a source close to the company, ZigWheels has found out that the 2017 edition of the Brutale 800 has already arrived at the Indian headquarters. The bike has been brought to India for homologation, thus confirming its launch soon.
MV Agusta had unveiled the bike at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show held in Milan. For the 2017 edition, the bike features a fresh headlight design with a full LED setup. The steel-trellis frame now makes use of a lighter aluminium alloy compound for the rear sub-frame which has helped the new Brutale 800 shed some weight as compared to its current version. The bike will continue to sport the attractive three-pipe exhaust. For suspension duties, the bike comes with fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi inverted forks at the front, while the rear features a Sachs shock absorber linked to the single-sided swingarm. The braking system comprises of Brembo units that consist of a 320mm double floating discs with radial-type 4-pistion calipers at the front and a 220mm single disc with a 2-piston caliper at the rear. It is backed by Bosch 9 Plus ABS system with RLM (Rear wheel Lift-up Mitigation) for better safety and new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres for maximum road contact.
Powering the 2017 Brutale 800 is a new 798cc, three-cylinder liquid-cooled mill with a counter-rotating crankshaft that produces 117PS of power at 11,500 rpm and 83Nm of peak torque at 7,600 rpm. In order to comply with Euro4 emission norms, the 2017 edition is heavier and slightly less powered than the previous version. The engine is managed by the integrated MVICS including multi-map Full Ride by Wire integrated to the traction control that is adjustable up to 8 levels. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox that is assisted by EAS along with a hydraulically controlled slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts.
MV Agusta will bring the bike to India via SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) route like the F3 with assembly carried out at the Kinetic plant. The MV Agusta Brutale 800 is undoubtedly one of the best looking middle-weight motorcycles in its segment. The bike is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 13-14 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete against the likes of the Yamaha MT-09, Triumph Speed Triple, Ducati Monster 821 and Kawasaki Z800 in its segment which are priced more competitively.
