Rally racing certainly demands not just the best of skills from every participant but also the best of their temperament. And each passing day of the Dakshin Dare reaffirms the same. Leg 2 on day 3 of the rally concluded with Rana regaining the lead in Ultimate Cars class and Nataraj holding onto the top spot in Ultimate Bikes. The results, however, don’t tell half the story as what unfolded on day 3 tested the temperament and physical endurance of the participants to the hilt.

The Ultimate Cars class saw the maximum action with Samrat losing out on his lead to Team Maruti Suzuki’s Suresh Rana. Samrat, who was leading at the end of the 1st lap, lost a fair amount of time due to a close shave, almost toppling over and eventually ramming into a bush. However, with help from teammate S N Nizami, he was able to get the car back on track before finishing second with a time of 07:00:15. Rana finished the 495km leg with stages spanning over 106km in 06:59:02, while Sandeep Sharma retained the third spot with a time of 07:05:46.

Talking about this, Suresh Rana said, “We have reached the lead position after 3 days and the joy is beyond words. The heavy downpour of rain made the terrain more challenging, but it didn’t go against us. We took it up as a challenge and closed it with top spot while the competition is cut throat.”
