BMW X5 Gets Updated With Additional Features And New Variants, Priced At Rs 1 Crore

BMW India has launched the updated 2025 X5, priced at Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). It comes in two variants, along with a new MSport Pro package offered along with both of these trims. The SUV will be locally produced at the BMW Chennai Plant and will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines. It is better prepared for off-roading this time with a new Off-road package, too. Design

Up front, the X5 gets slimmer LED headlights with a sharper light signature, while the grille and bumper have been mildly reworked. From the side, the SUV stands tall on 21-inch alloys as standard. The profile looks neater with subtle aero touches on the fenders, while the M Sport Pro trim adds blacked-out detailing for a sportier vibe. At the rear, the big change is the new LED tail-lamps with an ‘X’ shaped pattern inside, which makes it instantly recognisable at night. The bumper design has also been updated.

Interior And Features

The cabin feels a lot more modern and plush than before. The dashboard is dominated by a wide glass panel housing twin displays that curve slightly towards the driver. The layout is clean, with fewer physical buttons, and ambient lighting strips add a premium glow across the fascia. The seats have leather upholstery in multiple shades, paired with contrasting trims like brushed metal or piano black, depending on the variant. 

Inside, the highlight is the wide curved panel that houses a 12.3-inch driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features include powered front seats with lumbar support, four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, connected car tech, and a wireless phone charger. 

On the safety front, the X5 comes packed with modern driver assistance systems. It gets six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, blind spot detection, a 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS.

Powertrain

The X5 continues with two 3-litre six-cylinder engine options, both paired with mild-hybrid tech, all-wheel drive, and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol version (xDrive40i) produces 381 PS and 520 Nm, taking just 5.4 seconds to do nought to 100 kmph. The diesel (xDrive30d) makes 286 PS and 650 Nm, with a 0 to 100 kmph time of 6.1 seconds. 

The X5 now gets the off-road package as standard across all variants, giving you four dedicated modes: Sand, Rocks, Gravel and Snow.

The new X5 sports a modest cosmetic tweak and also packs some off-road chops. With both petrol and diesel engines still in the mix and that M Sport Pro trim adding some extra sport, the X5 feels like a good balance between luxury and a sporty character.
