The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift has been launched on our shores, with prices starting at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom). The facelift brings in necessary design updates for the exterior, as well as upgrades to the interior. Its feature list comprises top-notch amenities for your comfort and safety. In this report, we have detailed the facelifted XC90 using 10 real-life images:
Sophisticated, elegant and mature are the three words that come to mind when you look at the Volvo XC90, even more so when you look at the facelifted version, which, with the necessary updates, looks more appealing than the outgoing model.
The fascia of the XC90 has been altered a bit. It now gets a tweaked design for the grille, which looks more evolved now. The signature (Thor) LED headlights have now been made sleeker and sharper. Moreover, it also gets a new design for the air dams and the bumper. All these changes combined give it a more modern look.
The silhouette remains the same, and you won’t be able to differentiate it from the outgoing version until you take a look at the 20-inch alloy wheels, which get a new design now. Apart from this, the profile gets silver cladding, roof rails and chrome accents surrounding the windows. The XC90 is a proper full-size SUV with almost 5 metres of length and 2 metres of width.
Coming to the rear, it comes with the signature vertical taillight design, which looks nearly identical to the outgoing version. It boasts a little roof-mounted spoiler and shark fin antenna to amp up the sportiness quotient. The ‘Volvo’ lettering can be seen in the middle, and you get chrome inserts in the lower section of the bumper.
In terms of colour options, you get to choose from six hues: Onyx Black, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Vapor Grey, Bright Dusk and a new Mulberry Red colour.
The interior feels luxe as soon as you step inside! The quality of the materials used are nothing less than exceptional. The big update is that it gets a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which takes up most of the space of the dashboard. The infotainment is surrounded by vertically oriented AC vents, which have a premium feel to them. The steering wheel gets a slightly tweaked design with gloss black accents on the lower spoke.
The lower section of the centre console has been changed slightly to enhance practicality and improve storage space. The XC90 is offered in a 7-seater configuration only.
In terms of amenities, you get the aforementioned new 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which runs on Google-based software which can be updated over-the-air. The top features include a 12.3-inch driver’s display, PM 2.5 air filter, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a panoramic sunroof, powered seats with ventilation and massage functions, a wireless phone charger, a coloured heads-up display (HUD) and a four-zone climate control with AC vents for 2nd and 3rd row passengers as well.
Now, this is something that the Swedish-marquee is very well known for. It comes equipped with hill start and hill descent control, disc brakes on all wheels, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, front, side and rear parking sensors, auto park assist and a level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite.
As a part of their mission to increase road safety, like all Volvo cars, the new XC90 too is limited to a maximum speed of 180 kmph.
The XC90 facelift is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The unit produces 250 PS and 360 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels.
The XC90 facelift is priced at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom) and competes with the likes of BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Volvo cars are for those who want to stand out from the Mercedes and BMW owners and own something unique with their hard-earned money. The XC90 delivers just that, and the facelift further improves the overall experience of the full-size SUV. What do you think about the XC90 facelift? Let us know in the comments below.
