Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Compass

Q. Why Jeep Compass petrol has such a low average of just 5/6 km per litre?
  • The claimed ARAI mileage of Jeep Compass Petrol is 16.0 kmpl (manual). Although, At intial level the you will not get good mileage figures as a new car takes time to accustom - the Engine, Piston, Fuel Lines all takes time to lubricate and initial mileage will be low. It generally takes upto 800 to 1000 kms for your car started to offer a better mileage. While at around 4000 - 5000 kms distance when covered, mileage will be at its best and will stabilize which even gets better on oil change at 7500 - 10,000 kms. In order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you to drive slower.Driving fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are travelling above 60 mph. It is best to change gears appropriately and match the gear and the RPM carefully. You have to be careful when going to the tuner. Make sure the tuning is just to keep your engine running at the proper revs to provide maximum fuel efficiency. Changing the fuel filter on a regular basis will ensure that your car runs smoothly by letting only fuel into the engine instead of other residue from the tank and a clean air filter promotes better combustion which optimizes fuel economy. The tire pressure should be checked at least monthly because properly inflated tires can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%. Turning off air conditioner in city driving reduces stress on your engine which increases fuel economy greatly. Whether you use synthetic of natural oil, using an additive can improve fuel efficiency by up to 15%. You can keep these things in mind while maintaining your car.
  • This tell how good products hector and harrier are with the same engine they give 14-15 in city and 20-22 on highways and compass is now at the end of its life , just a suggestion compass will get 14-16 lacs on the used car market , sell it and go for either hector or harrier or even seltos !
  • My Jeep Compass petrol automatic 2018 gives a fuel economy of 5-6km/l in chennai city. And highways it is maximum 7-8km/l. Can someone share your views ? Very disappointed jeep INDIA.

Q. Which one is better Harrier or Jeep Compass?
  • Both the cars have something going for them. For the Tata Harrier, it’s the large dimensions, design and premium interiors. It’s loaded, spacious drives well and is built like a tank. The promise of SUVs has been delivered by the Harrier. First, its Land Rover genes ensure that it smothers poor surfaces, at city or highway speeds. It relishes in taking the meanest of road surfaces and taking the sting out of them. Whereas the Compass delivers on critical fronts like handling, off-road ability and stunning design. The Compass has been quite the success for Jeep in India and we’re glad to see it not resting on its laurels. However, you do pay a premium for that badge and compromise on space. The Tata Harrier significantly undercuts its main rival, the Jeep Compass, with even the top-spec variant being less expensive than the entry-level of the Compass. • If Jeep have improved upon the initial flaws in suspension and clutch then definitely COMPASS. Harriet is also a great car but a little low on power compared to Jeep despite having the same engine. Harriet 140 hp and Compass 170 hp. On the price front Harriet is a great option. Harriet has proven Land Rover chassis and engine gear box combo is same as in Compass. If you can wait A seven seater Harriet is about to be launched with 170 bhp. On the price front HARRIER TAKES THE CAKE
  • I own tata Harrier already drove 1200km....really awesome....I did compare jeep compass...but Harrier is more value for money top end with all feature....with best 1st service I ever got..I earlier had XUV500....but had worst experience...had to sell within one year..when no corrective response received.

Q. Which is the best Jeep compass variant for daily use and use for long ride in month?
  • It depends on how many features you can live without. Sports Plus is a good entry level option with all safety features and same driving dynamics. Top of the line is limited plus with things which make it premium feeling like white leather seats and a huge panaromic sun roof auto Headlamps rain sensing wipers etc. The latest Trailhawk version is 9 speed DCT automatic with 4x4 gearbox and is a serious off-roading vehicle. So there are a lot of variants engines and gearbox options to choose from according to your needs and of course budget
  • The Compass is now available in four variants - Sport, Longitude, Limited and Limited Plus. In addition, a Sport variant-based Bedrock trim and a Black Pack package is now available as well. While the diesel engine is available across variants, the petrol engine is available in the base and top variant only. Notably, it’s only the diesel variant that gets optional 4x4 in the Limited and Limited Plus variant. We’d recommend the Longitude if you aren’t keen on spending a lot for an SUV, and the Limited 4x2 if you know you won’t be mucking about. Whereas, Offers and discounts are provided by the brand and it may also vary according to the city, brand and model. There are scenarios wherein dealers also give attractive deals to their customers. • In our books, the Longitude (O) is the Compass to go for if you want this SUV. Sadly, both the Longitude and the Longitude (O) are not offered with a petrol option which makes the about Rs 2 lakh premium over the Sport variant quite steep. Apart from it, If you’re on a budget and want to join the Jeep bandwagon, this is the variant for you. The Sport trim doesn't skimp on safety either and offers almost all of the Compass' safety features, including ESC and TCS! But Jeep has missed out on some essentials such as rear-parking sensors and the AC is manual, which is disappointing for a car that’s priced over Rs 15 lakh.
