Ducati SuperSport Latest Updates

Ducati India has started accepting bookings for the upcoming SuperSport. The Ducati SuperSport will be the latest addition to the Italian bikemakers portfolio in the Indian market. The Ducati SuperSport is offered in two variants internationally - stock and the SuperSport S but we will have to wait till the launch for confirmation on whether both the models are made available in India. The new Ducati motorcycle is expected to be launched in October and is expected to be priced around Rs 12 lakh for the base variant, while the SuperSport S might retail for around Rs 14 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Booking amount for the Ducati SuperSport is between Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the city of purchase. While the Panigale models are more track focussed and have an aggressive riding stance, the Ducati SuperSport gets raised clip-on handlebars and mildly rear-set footpegs which means the riding posture is sporty yet comfortable.

The new motorcycle also features an adjustable windscreen further reaffirming its road focussed intentions. The styling of the new motorcycle is inspired from the Ducati 959 Panigale but it gets a redesigned headlight with LED DRLs, a larger saddle and smaller exhaust muffler. Underneath the fairing, sits a 937cc, L-Twin Testastretta engine which pushes out 110PS at 9,500rpm, while 93Nm of peak torque is made available at 6,500rpm. The SuperSport has been equipped with electronic goodies like ride-by-wire, power modes, 3-level Bosch ABS unit and traction control with 8 levels. The SuperSport S, on the other hand, gets additional equipment like fully adjustable Ohlins suspension unit, rear cowl and quickshifter (optional on the stock variant also). The Ducati SuperSport will face competition from the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-R1000F.

Q. What about its pillion ride and is it suitable for long distance touring - SuperSport?
  • Yes, it has a pretty comfortable seat for a pillion, grabrails are an accessory. Seat cowl comes as standard for S model and is removable, for standard model it's available as an accessory as well
  • I have done rides upto 600km to and fro and the pillion was comfortable, rest depends on the person also. But in general its pretty decent back seat, wide and well cushioned.

Q. Which bike should I bike Ducati Supersport S or MV Augusta Dragster 800 I am confused in this two bikes?
  • I would say Ducati Supersport, its more practical to use, MV is more exotic in my opinion, comes with its share of perks and negatives, but from usablility point of view Supersport is a better choice, if you r looking to keep it exotic, under 5k kms a year type, u can opt for MV.
  • Since the MV Agusta Dragster800 RR hasn't launched yet, it would not be fair to compare both these bikes. We'd request you to wait for the launch. Stay tuned for further updates.
