Ducati launched the Scrambler 1100 in the country at a starting price of Rs 10.91 lakh. The 800cc variant has been in the Indian market since 2015, but riders felt the need to have a bigger-engined Scrambler, and that’s why the Scrambler 1100. The Indian market gets all the three variants - standard, Sport and Special. The Special and Sport variants cost Rs 11.12 and 11.42 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom pan-India) respectively. The Ducati Scrambler 1100 competes with the BMW R nineT and the Triumph Street Scrambler in the Indian market.

Scrambler 1100 Specifications
Nestled inside the all-new tubular steel trellis frame is a 1079cc L-twin Desmodromic air-cooled engine with oil cooler. A peak power of 87.1PS arrives at 7500rpm and 88Nm of torque comes in from as low as 4750rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed hydraulically actuated transmission with slipper clutch. It gets three riding modes: Active, Journey and City. Further enhancing handling and safety are five-level Ducati traction control and cornering ABS. Claimed fuel efficiency stands at 19.23kmpl, which should result in a theoretical range of around 280km. For suspension, the Scrambler employs fully adjustable 45mm Marzocchi front forks and a Kayaba rear monoshock that’s adjustable for preload and rebound. The 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys are wrapped with 120-section front and 180-section rear Pirelli MT 60 RS rubber. The Sport variant features fully adjustable, more premium Ohlins units for both front and rear. More power commands better stopping power, and hence Ducati has used dual 320mm discs with Brembo Monobloc M4.32 calipers up front and 245mm disc at the rear. The Special variant, on the other hand, gets aluminium fenders, premium seat and spoked wheels.
Scrambler 1100 Design and Features
Ducati has made sure that the essence of the Scrambler is left untouched, and hence the motorcycle’s design doesn’t deviate too much from its smaller sibling. The headlamp features a metallic X-shaped element inside the housing, with a circular LED DRL. The handlebar is beefier than its little brother, and there’s an offset, asymmetric LCD instrument cluster which displays all the important info like riding modes, traction control, speed, tripmeter, tachometer and the likes. At 15 litres, the teardrop-shaped fuel tank is slightly larger too, and features interchangeable aluminium side panels. Twin underseat exhausts dominate the tail section, with the licence plate holder mounted in between. Ducati offers a small underseat storage compartment with a USB socket, which isn’t exactly convenient to use because of its location.
Ducati Scrambler 1100 Competitors
BMW R nineT Scrambler : The BMW R nineT Scrambler costs Rs 4.64 lakh more than the base variant of the Scrambler 1100. However, it gets a bigger 1170cc Boxer air-cooled engine that makes 24.4PS and 28Nm more than the Italian steed.
Triumph Street Scrambler : The Triumph Street Scrambler is essentially the scrambler version of the popular Street Twin. It costs Rs 2.31 lakhs less than the base Scrambler 1100. But the smaller 900cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine makes around 32PS and 9Nm lesser than the Scrambler 1100. It also gets a 5-speed transmission instead of a 6-speed unit. Triumph is currently working on the bigger 1200cc Scrambler, which is due for launch late this year or early next year.
