    I drive new 2020 i20 IVT

I drive new 2020 i20 ivt sportz and i have avg.Feedback as i can see look and feel wise car is quite fabulous but yes performance wise i am not happy with avg as i am getting 12-13 in city and 15-16 highway. Also there is lag while overtaking i would like to highlight few of god and bad exp based on my 2 years exp.Good:1.Style : car is quite stylish and the edgy shape is very attractive.2.Interior:- interior of new i20 is very impressive and you will never feel bored.Quality of buttons and controls looks very promising and best in quality.3.Drive experience: i am using this car for my daily commute of about 60+ kms and that too on bangalore roads during raining seasons as well and i am quite satisfied with seating and driving exp.I have done few long trips from bangalore to pondicherry and there was no pain or restlessness after continuous drive.4.Suspension: during covid time i have taken this car to jammu and i drove this car in the mountains and in bad roads but the suspension was quite impressive even with 4 members in car.5.Space: car is very spacious and you will get excellent leg room. From my personal exp i can say my dad and brother are 6 feet height and they were quite comfortable sitting at back seat.Bad:- now let's come to the part which no one would like to elaborate as everyone want his car to be perfect which is next to impossible.1.Car external build quality is not that promising.May be the frame of the car is quite manageable as it has scores 3 stars.2.Lag while overtaking.I have faced challenges while overtaking any vehicle on highway and it was like i am putting my 100% to accelerate but still something is missing.3.Headlight throw is very weak specially while driving on highways.4.Ivt sportz model should have adjustable arm rest as left side of driver will be free but short height driver will feel the arm rest is of no use.4.Boot space: avg bootspace as it is hard to keep luggage of 4 passengers.I am sharing reviews based on my personal experience and comparison between baleno and kia sonet which i owe along with this i20 and i can say i20 is better option as compared to baleno as both share same segment but kia sonet is very tight from rare side and very hard suspensions.

    Bounciness inside

I own a elite i20 petrol asta optional 2017 model. The car is a looker, Clean lines gives it an understated yet elegant look, Diamond cut alloy wheels looks stunning. There are functional features like led drls, Cornering lights do the job well in lighting up the roads while taking turns.Interiors are beige and black which are a little difficult to maintain however gives it a roomy feel. The plastic quality is average however fit and finish is top notch. If there is one area where i20 trumps its rivals in its interior quality and list of features. The car comes loaded with features which is typical of a hyundai.Rear seat space is also good but not the best in the segment. The window line for the rear passengers is a little high.Coming to the drive- crank the engine and the first thing you realize is the refinement. It is top notch.Start accelerating and you realise the engine power is adequate at best.Gear shift quality is excellent, Clutch is light so is steering and the overall visibility makes the i20 a wonderful city car.The rear visibility is a little compromised however having a rear camera is useful in this case.Highway performance of this car is satisfactory at best. The car doesn't like to be pushed around in corners as the steering feedback is vague and it doesn't weigh up with speed. The car is best driven sedately.Enthusiasts should not consider this car.Even the ride quality is on the softer side and there is a fair amount of bounciness inside at highway speeds.Audio quality is great and it also comes with apple car play and android auto.Pros- good city car, Comfortable for a family, Looks stunning, Great interiors and loaded with features.Cons- highway performance, Under powered engine, Steering lacks feel and the ride quality could have been a little stiffer.Conclusion- its a practical car suited for a family.People having more running should consider the diesel and people who want and engaging drive should look else where.

  • I have been using i20 since

I have been using i20 since 2020 december.I have i20 sports model, White color.Talking about its mileage, On highway if i drive with light foot i can get a mileage of upto 22 kmpl which is really good but if i am driving it for fun i am able to get 16 - 17 kmpl.In city i get 12-13.In heavy traffic 8-9.All depends on your driving style so on an average i can say its 15 kmpl overall. Its fun to drive. You can feel power lags after 3rd gear.Handling is really good.Comfort is on its best.Interiors are 5 star as per the price.Body has a good built quality.Ground clearance might feel low and even looks like really low but i never struggled with that it easily gets out of even difficult roads.I would say better built quality than suzuki but not performance. Not as good quality if compared to tata but better performance than that.Overall average everything but can beat anything in comfort and interiors.Negatives - hatchbacks aren't supposed to be this expensive- built quality is decent but can be better- no auto dimming rearview mirrorpositives - best interiors- fun to drive - best handeling- feature loaded i.E.Best reverse camera, Osometer is stylish, Auto headlamps, Tpms.

  • Sporty sticker

With a sporty sticker on the sides bought at the showroom itself, It was the most beautiful hatchback at that time. The space, Seating comfort and the soft suspension gave ultimate pleasure for a middle class aspiror. The car was so great we as a family refused to get down for quite some time after reaching home. The diesel engine was fantastic particularly after the kicking in of the turbo. The car once reached 150 when chasing a jaguar and often cruised at 130 on good roads. On some roads felt less confident to handle, Giving a rolling feel.Build quality was average.Clutch was too tight that legs pain a bit on city traffic. But there was a posh feel inside and was so jolly to drive. The service was a disappointment. When i lost a key and had broken another one, They couldn't give me the promised spare key, Though they told a code number in the key would be enough.Had to replace entire cylinder to arrange for new key that too by someone else. There are still a couple of repairs that hyundai couldn't carry out. However i manage service outside as the car is a great one.I am proud owner as so many people wanted this car- obviously i refused.

I took posession of a new

I took possession of a new i-20 automatic sports version around 3rd week of nov 2023, Vehicle mileage is a serious let down, I am from banglore, My car is giving just around 7.6-8.0 (max) while driving in the city area.(even my earlier car hyundai xcent (which i exchanged for i-20) gave around 11km/ltr.This is such a serious issue now.My petrol bill has almost doubled.I also noted that it gave a max of 17km/ltr while driving on the highways (went from bangalore to mysore) best results were at 85-87km/hr speeds.Otherwise it slides to 16.3-16.5, This is the biggest draw back of this car.Rest everything works fine, Barring occasional issues with blue tooth pairing, Also initial pic-up is bit tardy.I am told most automatic behave similarly.I took my car to service center to enquire about the mileage issue.I am told after 4800 km.Mileage will improve.(i am not sure what magic is going to happen).I have around 4100 km now.Waiting to hit 4800km and see what happens. So guys pls do not believe any figures given by dealers.Check mileage of other similar vehicles thoroughly before going for i-20.Best wishes, Suresh.C.
