Tata Buzzard SUV Walkaround & Harrier’s BIGGER 7-seater Cousin For India

Tata has revealed its new flagship SUV at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, named the Buzzard (pronounced ‘Buzz-ard’). While it shares the modified Land Rover D8 platform with the Harrier and has the same 2741mm wheelbase, it is 62mm longer to accommodate a third row of seats. The exterior and interior design of the Buzzard is more or less the same as that of the Harrier. Outside, the Buzzard gets larger 18-inch wheels, a visibly long body, new roof rails, a new rear quarter glass and a flatter boot lid. The new roof rails hide the fact that the roof now gets a bulge over the second and third rows to offer more headroom. Inside, the third row features seats for two extra people, making the Buzzard a 7-seater family SUV. The second row seats tumble forward to make it easier for people to get in and out. The A/C vents for the third row passengers are placed on the C-pillars. While the Buzzard will have the same 2.0-litre ‘Kyrotec’ 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine as the Harrier, it will be tuned to develop 173PS/350Nm, as compared to the 140PS/350Nm in the Harrier. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque converter, with power sent to the front wheels. The Buzzard may receive a name change before it is launched in India, as Tata officials believe it may not have as much recall value among customers here. It will replace the Hexa as the company’s flagship SUV offering in the country and will take on the Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass.
