Volkswagen Polo Gets A Smaller 1.0-Litre Engine

Volkswagen has announced the appointment of Bishwajeet Samal as the head of marketing of Volkswagen’s Indian passenger cars division. Samal, who is currently responsible for regional marketing, international communications at Volkswagen AG, Germany, has been a part of the Volkswagen India family since 2008. Samal will begin his new role from June 1, 2018 and will be reporting to Steffen Knapp, director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
Commenting on the appointment, Steffen Knapp said, “At Volkswagen, nurturing in-house talent and offering a diverse platform of enhanced learning is at the core of our brand philosophy. We are confident that Bishwajeet’s extensive experience in marketing shall contribute to our growth in India.”
Speaking on his appointment, Bishwajeet Samal said, “I am extremely overwhelmed to have returned to India and working in this dynamic market. I look forward towards further strengthening the brands’ presence in India.”
Volkswagen recently revised its Polo lineup and equipped it with a 999cc, in-line 3-cylinder engine which produces 76PS (+1PS) of power and 95Nm torque, which is 15Nm lower than the older 1.2-litre motor. We are yet to get our hands on the car. But rest assured, we will soon put it through an extensive read test to tell you how different it feels when compared to the older model.
