Tata Tiago launched at Rs 3.20 lakh

The Tata Tiago has been launched in India at Rs 3.20 lakh for the petrol and Rs 3.94 lakh for the base model diesel. The new hatchback goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Hyundai Grand i10.

Tata has launched its all-new hatchback in India, the all-new Tiago. The new hatchback will come with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol is priced from Rs 3.20 lakh for the base model while Rs 4.75 lakh for the top spec variant. The diesel is priced at Rs 3.94 lakh for the base model while the fully loaded model will retail for Rs 5.54 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The new Tiago will go up against cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

In terms of engines, the Tiago gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 85PS of peak power and 114Nm of peak torque. The new diesel engine is a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that makes 70PS of peak power and 140Nm of peak torque. The new Tiago gets a five speed manual gearbox and shifts well. There might be an AMT option that Tata will launch for the Tiago soon too. The car will be offered in five trims and Tata claims ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 23.84kmpl for petrol variant and 27.28kmpl for the diesel version.

The Tata Tiago will be the first new car from Tata Motors that brings along the new design element and new design language. The Tiago features a new blacked out grille with hexagonal styling features along with a fused in set of headlamps. The Tiago also gets a sporty rear bumper and a rear spoiler that is built into the tail gate. The new Tiago also gets 14-inch alloys on the top of the line variant.

In terms of interiors, the Tiago is very spacious in terms of leg space and head space. The Tiago is also wide enough to fit three passengers at the back. The boot too is one of the largest in its segment and fits a large suitcase or two with ease. The Tiago does not get a touchscreen infotainment system but will get an app based interface that syncs well with smartphones.
