Design highlights include almond-shaped headlamps, a D-shaped grille and vertical tail lamps.
Dashboard consists of a large head-up display and a big centre console.
It could sport similar specs as its concept iteration that boasts a 500km+ range.
Will join the ZS EV in the carmaker’s electric lineup.
Unlikely to make it to India anytime soon.
Back in 2017, MG Motors unveiled its preview of future MG vehicles at the Shanghai Motor Show in the form of the E-Motion electric concept coupe. Since then, not much has been revealed on when we could expect a production-spec unit. And now, patent images of the production-spec E-Motion have leaked online and it won’t be too similar to the concept.
While the production-spec E-Motion sports a similar silhouette as the concept, its styling bits are quite different. The main difference is at the front with bigger almond-shaped headlights as well as a different grille, which makes it look like a modern Aston Martin. At the rear, it retains the vertical tail light setup from the concept with its diffuser being toned down a little. The taillight setup seems to take inspiration from the Jaguar XJ.
A proper cabin shot is yet to be revealed. However, the patented images reveal a large head-up display surrounding the instrument cluster and a large, flat centre console area. This is where bits like a touchscreen infotainment system and climate control are expected to be housed.
Detailed technical specifications of the production-spec E-Motion are yet to be revealed. But we know that the concept’s electric motor is an in-house developed setup. MG claims a 0-100kmph sprint time of less than four seconds and a range of more than 500km. Expect a similar setup on the production-spec E-Motion.
An official date for the production-spec MG E-Motion debut is yet to be revealed. But we expect the electric coupe to be unveiled by the end of this year, with a launch in 2021. It will join the ZS EV in MG’s electric lineup and also be the carmaker’s first EV coupe. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to make it to India anytime soon.
