Even though the fourth season of Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship is days away, the Indian automaker has ensured the event already starts gaining eyeballs. How? Tata Motors has announced that it will be showcasing a truck at the event which makes... (wait for it) a whopping 1040PS of power! This is no ordinary truck but the all-new T1 Prima race truck.
The new T1 Prima race truck makes more than double the power of those competing in the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship Season 4. Tata has developed this truck, the most powerful in India, in collaboration with the US-based engine maker Cummins. But the 1040PS power figure is not the only mind-boggling thing about this truck. This truck makes 3500Nm torque and can go from 0-160kmph within 10 seconds!

The new race truck has a 12-litre ISGe Cummins engine, mounted in the centre of the truck's chassis, which puts out power via a 16-speed gearbox developed by ZF. As far as Cummins in India is concerned, it has a joint venture with Tata Motors called Tata Cummins Pvt. Ltd. Tata Cummins was established in 1994 and has since developed engines that make 75PS power to 400PS power. Its manufacturing facility is in Jamshedpur.
The fourth season of T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship will host racers from FIA's European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC). The ETRC will be represented by six racers in the Pro Class where they will compete against six British drivers from British Truck Racing Association (BTRA). Among these accomplished racers will be three-time ETRC champion from Spain Antonio Albacete, two-time ETRC Champion from Hungary Nobert Kiss and Stephanie Helm, T1 Prima's first woman driver.
