Prices for the Scorpio have been hiked by Rs 60,000 in the transition to BS6. While Mahindra is yet to reveal the base-spec S5 variant’s price, it’s safe to assume that it could receive a similar hike. The S3, S7 120PS and S11AWD variants have been discontinued from the lineup.

The Mahindra Scorpio BS6 utilises the tried and tested 2.2-litre diesel engine with upgrades to meet BS6 emission standards. Unlike before, the BS6 version of this engine will be offered in its 140PS/320Nm guise only. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Nope, there isn’t an automatic variant or an all-wheel drive variant in the BS6 Scorpio.

The Mahindra Scorpio doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country. Its pricing makes it an alternative to the MG Hector, Kia Seltos and Tata Harrier 2020. Mahindra has also started work on the next-generation Scorpio, which is larger and cleaner than before. We expect it to be offered with automatic and manual transmission options.
