Jaguar's first-ever SUV, the F-Pace, has received an extremely positive response from buyers around the world. It was rewarded for blending the capabilities of an urban SUV with the handling characteristics of a sporty sedan. The success of the F-Pace prompted the company to have more SUVs in the lineup. The all-electric I-Pace is already under development and will go on sale in 2018. The latest kitty to join the family is the E-Pace.
In the lineup, the E-Pace compact SUV will sit alongside the XE sedan and below the F-Pace, which is the SUV equivalent of the XF sedan. The E-Pace could share its mechanicals with the XE sedan. That includes a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and diesel engine in various states of tunes. Being an SUV, all-wheel drive will be offered with certain variants. A performance-oriented S variant of the E-Pace could also join in with its 3.0-litre supercharged V6.
The new E-Pace will be unveiled on July 13, 2017. The SUV is likely to enter production sometime in 2018 and land on our shores in 2019. Expect the prices to start around the Rs 55 lakh mark. It'll rival the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, the BMW X3 and the upcoming Volvo XC60.
Ian Callum, director of design, Jaguar, said, “The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-PACE stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-PACE will do just that, albeit with its own individual character.”
