The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show only a month away and Hyundai has a variety of new models set for debut. Confirmed so far is an electric concept partnered with an electric race car and of course the Euro-spec 3rd gen i10.
Details about the new electric concept car haven’t been revealed yet, but Hyundai has confirmed that the concept will showcase its future direction for EVs. The Korean carmaker has also claimed that the concept EV will have customizable interiors under the ‘Style Set Free’ banner. It is an initiative by Hyundai that will enable owners to personalise their vehicles in a similar way to how people design their homes to reflect their lifestyles. In Hyundai’s case, this personalization includes customising a car's interior throughout its lifecycle to the customer’s preference. This customizable interior feature could make its way to Hyundai’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) in future vehicles. It will share the stage with Hyundai’s first electric race car that could be the product of a partnership with Rimac.
Aside from Hyundai’s EV plans at the Frankfurt Motor Show, we do know that Hyundai’s ICE highlight will be the reveal of the Euro-spec third-gen i10 after its Indian cousin, the Grand i10 Nios, debuts on August 20. Fortunately, the carmaker has provided some valuable snippets about the car in the form of a teaser sketch. First impressions reveal that while it may seem similar to the India-spec Grand i10 Nios, it does get a funkier exterior. To know more about it head here.
The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show could also mark the reveal of another mysterious new model. While nothing has been revealed about the car aside from a teaser image, the South Korean carmaker claims that the new model will get best-in-class safety and connectivity features. There is a strong likelihood that it could be the next-gen i20 that was spied testing earlier in Europe. What supports this theory is that the new model will be included in Hyundai’s European lineup.
In the end, it is still early days to make any concrete theories. We expect to have a clearer picture regarding details for the new models in the coming weeks before the expo. However the wait isn't a long one as the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show will kickstart on 12 September.
